Titel: From Theory to Reality: Implementing Product-as-a-Service in Practice
Beskrivning: The way resources are extracted, consumed, and handled after use puts pressure on the environment. In order to slow down the flow of resources, circularity has emerged as a solution. To make the transition to a circular economy possible, companies have to adjust their business models accordingly. Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) is one of many circular business models which has been identified as a gateway to the circular economy. This thesis explores the concept further, investigating what an implementation of PaaS looks like in a practical context at the case company Nor:disk Clean Solutions. The aim is to bridge the gap between literature and practical execution, finding challenges and enablers in the transition.

Titel: Creating a Structured Technology Scouting Approach for Operations Development - A Case Study Within a Multifaceted Global Industrial Company
Beskrivning: A case study of technology scouting at Alfa Laval. How does one organize a technology scouting function within a cluster of highly autonomous business units? With the growing trend of open innovation within global companies, anyone can be a source of innovation. How does an organization fully utilize this plethora of innovation sources? The tech industry is growing faster than ever and organizations need to stay on top of technological advancements. This thesis aims to explore what best practices are currently being used to efficiently scan the horizon for new technology. Furthermore the thesis aims to create a generalized framework for organizations with ambition to improve their scouting efforts and thereby increase their competitiveness.

Titel: From Documents to Disclosures: Automating Sustainability Reporting with Large Language Models
Beskrivning: Can AI change how we do sustainability reporting in the future? Many companies face extensive sustainability reporting requirements under the new European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Documents and data are scattered throughout the organization, requirements are challenging to interpret, and ESRS is significantly more time-consuming than previous directives. Could AI be the solution?
This thesis explores the potential of automating ESRS reporting using large language models (LLMs), based on already existing company documentation.

Titel: Sustainable Data Storage: A Study on Strategic Data Management at an Electricity Distribution Company
Beskrivning: The electricity grid is undergoing a major transformation. The electrification of industry and transportation, along with the increased integration of unplannable renewable energy, is introducing new challenges for electricity distribution companies. In response, digitalization is a key tool for addressing the emerging challenges. But with the volume of data growing, it raises important questions for electricity distributors like E.ON: How should they develop their data storage strategy? This thesis investigates the key factors that should be considered when developing a sustainable and cost-effective data storage strategy for E.ON.

Sammanfattning: Project management is a complex endeavor present in all industries. For investment projects, project management can have a significant impact on the organization as a whole. By studying a global company in an industrial environment, this thesis seeks to identify the appropriate project management methodology for investment projects. Insights clearly connected to investment projects are described and applied to the case. This in order to provide valuable guidance for other industrial companies looking to improve their project management.

Titel: Material Optimization of a Folded Horn Design
Beskrivning: How does the material choice for a folded horn loudspeaker affect its performance? Is it possible to find a new suitable material for the horn components in order to make the product more cost efficient and sustainable, while at the same time preserving its functionality? Both companies and customers are more conscious and invested in ensuring that today’s products are sustainable and eco-friendly. It is therefore of interest to explore alternatives to the current design.
This thesis investigates the possibility of finding a new material for a horn speaker to reduce the overall costs and its environmental impact. This is done by evaluating its performance based on three main parameters: acoustic performance, thermal loads and vibrational aspects.
