Effects of Air Pollution on Climate, Health and Green Transition
– Addressing Complex Issues at the Interface of Technology and Medicine
Air pollution causes several million deaths each year and affects the climate by both warming and cooling it, which introduces a major uncertainty factor into climate models. The green transition will reduce certain sources of air pollution but also introduce new ones. A transdisciplinary approach is needed to solve these complex problems.
The course provides insight into current challenges and how they are addressed through:
- Measurement of exposure levels and characterisation of emissions (technology)
- Combining air pollution characteristics and public health (epidemiology)
- Combining air pollution characteristics and toxicity studies (toxicology)
In addition, the course shows how the results of these studies can be translated into policy and action.
