Research
Design Sciences conducts research and research education in several different areas, such as Ergonomics and Aerosol Technology, Industrial Design, Innovation Engineering, Packaging Logistics and Product Development.
Ergonomics and Aerosol Technology
Ergonomics and Aerosol Technology carry out research on the interaction between people and their surrounding environment and what this means for the design of technology, technological systems and organizations. This field is often called human-technology systems. This can be about participating in and designing environments for the good of people based on the United Nations’ Global Goals. The research is carried out in workplaces and in other settings where people reside in their daily lives.
Industrial Design
Industrial design directs its attention to design and trend management, metacharacteristics — the symbolic values and hidden messages of products — and design methodology, processes, methods and tools.
Innovation
Innovation is a multi-disciplinary and broad domain dealing with innovations of both a technical and social nature. We look upon innovation as an iterative process of ideation, development, and implementation, and our research addresses the different parts of this cycle, using different perspectives.
Packaging Logistics
Packaging Logistics is about understanding and contributing to the development of processes in packaging design and packaging logistics. The research is applied, socially relevant and takes place in close cooperation with businesses and public actors. Packaging Logistics is part of major multidisciplinary research initiatives in areas such as city logistics, freight transport, retail and e-commerce. The division collaborate with researchers from many other areas, such as business administration, service management, logistics, cultural geography, innovation technology and design.

Global goals
At Design Sciences, we start out from the UN’s global goals to create sustainable living conditions for everyone. For us, it’s about designing technologies and environments for the good of all people based on these sustainability goals.
