LTH AEROSOLS Seminar: Aerosol nanocatalysts supported by semiconductor nanowires
Marie Bermeo Vargas, doctoral student at Solid State Physics, will give a seminar entitled "Aerosol nanocatalysts supported by semiconductor nanowires".
This research introduces aerosol-based nanocatalysts that combine the advantages of both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. Palladium nanoparticles, generated through spark ablation, are deposited onto gallium phosphide nanowires, which are grown using metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE). GaP nanowires, with their high aspect ratio provides a larger surface area that may enhance catalytic activity. The design features 10 nm palladium nanoparticles attached to GaP nanowires of various morphologies, followed by a thermal annealing process. This approach provides a controlled method for fabricating aerosol-based nanocatalysts, advancing our understanding of the key factors that determine their functionality.
Fika will be served from 11.00, and the seminar starts at 11.15.
