LTH AEROSOLS Seminar: Characterization of soot properties using spectroscopic techniques

Jefry John, PhD student at Combustion Physics, Lund University, will give a presentation on his work about “Characterization of soot properties using spectroscopic techniques”.
Studying the physicochemical properties of soot is critical for understanding its environmental impacts and advancing combustion science. This presentation explores soot characterization using advanced optical-based techniques like UV-Vis spectroscopy and in-flight X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). UV-Vis spectroscopy provides insights into the electronic transitions and optical properties of soot, while in-flight XPS enables real-time analysis of surface chemical composition. The integration of these methods improves the comprehensive understanding of soot’s structural, chemical, and optical characteristics.
Fika will be served from 11.00, and the seminar starts at 11:15.
