LTH AEROSOLS seminar: "Improving Aerosol Drug Delivery Efficiency and Efficacy: In the ICU and at Home"
Visiting PhD candidate Madeline Zhang from University of Amsterdam will give a seminar on “Improving Aerosol Drug Delivery Efficiency and Efficacy: In the ICU and at Home”.
Aerosol drug delivery is used for a variety of therapeutic applications, both in hospital settings and for at-home treatments. In this talk, I will present two of my recent studies aimed at improving the efficiency and efficacy of aerosol drug delivery in these different contexts. The first study shows how we can enhance the delivered dose of aerosol therapy during high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy for infants in the ICU by decoupling temperature and humidity control with a novel humidifier. The second study demonstrates how we can improve olfactory targeting with a nanotech nasal spray nozzle, enabling self-administered hyposmia (loss-of-smell) treatment with theophylline.
